Message from JAMA

Dear Colleague,

This August, JAMA, the Journal of the American Medical Association and the National University Health System will co-host a world-class conference addressing one of the foremost challenges facing health care today—the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of obesity, diabetes, and the myriad complications associated with these diseases.  I encourage and welcome your attendance.

“Recent Trends in Diabetes, Obesity, and Metabolic Syndrome,” the first-ever JAMA-themed conference, will convene an internationally renowned panel of multidisciplinary experts to discuss the latest developments and clinical implications for these diseases.  The event represents an unprecedented global convergence of dynamic JAMA author-lecturers in the pertinent fields of prevention, medical and surgical approaches, impact on cardiovascular disease, and much more.  As an added bonus, JAMA Executive Deputy Editor Dr. Phil Fontanarosa and I will share insights on how to read scientific articles and offer ways for authors to improve their publication opportunities with the major medical journals.

This international conference, which will take place on 1-2 August 2008 at the University Cultural Centre on the NUS campus, should be of keen interest to you.  Please note that your conference registration also entitles you to a one-year online subscription to JAMA and up to 48 free CME credits.  Delegates will receive a free certificate of attendance, which in some instances will also accommodate continuing medical education credit.

Please visit www.jama-nus.com for the program, the list of speakers, links to relevant articles, and information about travel and accommodations.  I hope that you and your colleagues will join us in August for what promises to be a truly enriching educational opportunity among your global peers.

Sincerely yours,
